Here’s the question from Avvo.com:
How do I find a lawyer i can trust and who will work with me on fees?
I had a horrible experience with my divorce atty and i’m now in need of professional help regarding bankruptcy/foreclosure and i’m worried not only about the financial aspect but about being burned again; can anyone help me find a good lawyer who will accept a down payment and work out a payment plan?
My Answer:
It is hard for people to know which lawyer is best for them until they meet with a few attorneys. It is important that you first find an attorney with experience in bankruptcy. Then, you should call the attorney’s office to discuss your case. You should be able to ask some general questions. Set up an appointment, and bring in as many of your documents as you can. Most bankruptcy attorneys will meet with you for a free consultation.
By the end of the consultation, you should have an idea of your options. Also, you should be able to judge how well you can work with the attorney. Take a look at my Blog article– http://www.bankruptcylawchicagoblog.com/with-ba…
You should feel like you are in the “drivers’ seat”. and be in control of your situation. We offer payment plans and can work with you on legal fees. You can also look at the attorney’s reviews on a site like this one. But the most important thing is to have a “plan of action”, and have a sense of comfort and trust with your attorney.
