We personally review your income from the last 6 months, your income now, your debts, and your monthly expenses. That is why you need to bring in as much information as you can- 4 years of tax returns, 6 months of pay stubs, bills, mortgage and car statements. We then analyze your situation and come up with your options, in bankruptcy and otherwise. You will be able to see what would happen with each choice. You would also know any potential pitfalls and problems that may or may not happen in your case.
After discussing each option, you get to make the choice. We will make recommendations of what we think would be the best based on your situation, but ultimately, you are in the drivers’ seat. Why is this so important? Because many times when people meet with attorneys, the attorney might tell them what they recommend, but won’t give them a choice. The attorney might say: you are doing a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy, or you are doing a Chapter 13 (payment plan). But, the client would not know what the consequences would be. The client might not know all the choices, or that he or she even has a choice.
